Going back to school

Yes I am doing it. After 3 years if real bed procrastination i have made the call to go back to school. What does this mean for SXU? well I will still be trying to make posts. I’m not sure how the updates will work but I’m going to work it out. I’m starting classes Sept. 14 (the same day halo reach launches ><). I’m exited and wanted to let you (the faithful readers that keep me working) that it might further effect comics. I pretty much suck at keeping a steady update anyways.

What I think will end up happening is that I will try to post the main comic 2 times a week and get lites up if I can manage. So chances are if there is nothing funny happening out in the world I won’t post one. The goal is to keep the story based portion of the site driving forward. going to go now and sleep I have a busy day of changing my address tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Monday at last meaning comics will resume a week later! our internet gets hooked up on wed. and its going to take a little bit to get everything the way we like it! I’m happy that things are moving we are going tomorrow to sign our names and all that fun stuff.

Also guys, note that commenting is a lot easier now so feel free. I made it so no more typing in the image bull or holding comments for aproval so it should all be on the fly go now. Worry not about spam though because that should be covered.

Sorry about the lack of comics guys, things are taking way longer than I expected. As of the moment everything I own is in one storage unit, and I am staying with my grandparents. We are waiting for the closing date on our new house which never seems to get closer just pushed away. I blame this on people who do not take there job selling homes seriously. To say the least the whole experience has been flustering ><.

Tonight I’m going to see about pulling out my tablet and trying to maybe set up a spot to work. Thanks to everyone who has been checking regularly, you guys keep me on my toes . When I know when we will be back to normal posts you will be the first to know.

For anyone who follows me on Twitter you all know I’m in the middle of moving. I just wanted to make the official announcement that for the next 3-4 weeks SXU is on hold while I’m moving. It’s all a lot of hard work and kind of depressing for me. I liked this house and I hate moving. If you want play by play updates follow me on twitter. I might post some of the stuff I will be working on there. stay tuned and thanks for your continued reader support .

Okay so I missed the Monday comic but the rest of everything is on track! Part of the reason is that I have been working day and night tinkering with the update to the webcomic system I use and there are a bit of bug with the template for the comic pages. Which is why when you visit the pages for each comic the rant content is not showing up and the bottom of the page is shifted to the right. Its been bugging me like mad ><. In short I’m going to stop tweaking with it so much and save it till the weekend so I can post the rest of this weeks comics on time.

I decided I’m going to take this week to work full time on mods to the site. I have reached this conclusion mainly due to the fact that I have been up all night tinkering and have not managed to finished today comic. I will be trying to bring you new site end stuff all week. leave a comment if you all want some forum action, thinking about maybe putting one in later. For now I’m dead tired and need sleep. Don’t mind the site too much. She needs some work but, she runs for now. night night xoxoxoxoxox…

Originally I wanted to record a bit of a video rant to talk about some stuff, but sadly I have been pretty much wrapped up in other stuff all weekend so all you get is this sad old text rant. Over this weekend I have started layout for the upgrade to Webcomic 3. Webcomic 3 is the plugin written by Mike Sisk that I support fully and use to bring you all this comic on a weekly basis. I will not be switching over right away but I am going to be spending a lot of time working with it over this next few weeks to learn how to bend and break it to my will.

Along with a site update coming soon, we will also be continuing to update 5 times a week! I know epic, right? this test week that we had this past week was not as well as I would have liked it to be but it proved that I can do it. Ideally I would like all 3 SXU comics to be in color and not just one of them. I’m aiming to complete all of them to 100% this week and update the black and white ones come this weekend.

My biggest worry so far is how well cs5 works on my mac. I upgraded over the weekend and it’s all installed and working well, but to me tablet input seems to be a little laggy. I’m going to re-start my mac after I post this to see how well it runs after. I’m hoping that this solves the issue, I kind of haven’t had reboot in a while . That’s about all I have to say today. Be on the look out for comics all this week.

Testing a new update schedule

3 comics a week simply isn’t enough… Sheldon, and I talked a while back when I was on vacation about changing updates to help people keep interested. We decided that we will be updating 5 times a week Mon.-Fri. I’m making this week my test week to see how well I can roll with it.

Here is how posting will work this week:

Mon: Full page SXU comic
Tue: SXU lite
Wed: Full page SXU comic
Thur: SXU lite
Fri: Full page SXU SXU comic

So you see I have a lot of content to work on to keep my busy this week and I’m planning on working hard with my new methods to get it all posted and on time. I’m also planning on starting to do video rants for fun. I want to try to post one every Sat as to add to things here. Will be posting more this week to let everyone know how I’m dealing with the stress of keeping schedule.

I’m awful at updating, guys. Most likely always will be. Heading to Chicago this weekend for the Blues Festival, and that’s pretty radical. It’ll be a good way to start off summer vacation.
Jason and I talked about doing 3 comics a week, updated Monday, Wednesday, Friday, so we’ll see how that turns out. If you’ve got feedback about it, let us know in the comments. I also haven’t mentioned to him yet *cough cough* that I think it would be cool to do lites on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Hopefully the balls will start rolling soon and things on my side will be better as far as participation goes.
